Celebrate Independents Week July 1-7
We're celebrating our local independents
--local, independent businesses, that is!
The work of strengthening local neighborhood economies through the support of local, independent businesses is not accomplished by the work of a few people. It is a movement. When we shop local first, we vote with our dollars. We are telling the world what kind of communities we want to live in.
Join us in telling the world that you want to live in a city that values local, independent businesses first because local businesses return more investment to their communities, provide better services, and contribute to the unique character of our neighborhoods.
How you can join us:
1. Help us educate the public on the unique benefits of locally-owned, independent businesses. We have created Chicago-specific graphics that you may adapt to use with your own networks. Any of these resources can be used and adapted for any social media platform or marketing effort. We have also created .png images that you can use immediately on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. Find them here.
Find more resources through the American Independent Business Alliance:
3. Help us register more businesses to the Local First Chicago business directory. We need your help to cultivate a robust and accurate directory so that conscious consumers have alternatives to chain and internet retailers. Make sure your own business registration is up to date and share your link with colleagues. Register here.
4. Post any events that promote local, independent businesses. Local First Chicago will promote the events on our website and social media networks. Register here.
